BILL MEYER WINTER LEAGUE
The Bill Meyer Winter League (BML) are District 8 Paper Teams for boys and girls in the U8 through U14 age group that allow players to participate in a higher level of soccer than played in the District VIII, fall recreational season, in an affiliated District VIII league of which TCYS is a part of.
Play in BML season allows recreational players to travel to other cities to play. They get to play against opponents that they have not seen all season, the travel is new, the opponents are new, and it all brings a new level of excitement. This is all to encourage the recreational player to continue playing, taking them toward a future of their choosing for soccer play.
The Bill Meyer League is a higher level playing opportunity for young aspiring soccer athletes. All players will participate in a tryout and face the challenge of tough competition to add to their experience. Timing for this league typically begins with tryouts in early-November at Standard Park, first practice around the first week of December, first soccer matches begin first week of January (12 matches scheduled at two per Saturday), and season ends with a tournament late-February/ early-March.

Basic Requirements
1. Player must have played on a fall recreation league team in the same year.
2. All players must tryout to make the team.
* There is no registration fee until the player makes the team.

Due to the lack of participants, we unfortunately are unable to form a U10G team this year.
Due to no one able to volunteer to coach, we unfortunately are unable to form a U12G team this year.
We appreciate your hard work and efforts as well as your understanding of the need to make this decision.

Winter 2023 Teams
TCYS entered six teams into the Bill Meyer League for winter 2023.

Bill Meyer League TCYS U12 Boys
Our team had a rough first few weeks going 0-2-2, and scoring zero goals. We lost our goal keeper, and things seemed bleak. But in week 3, facing the eventual tournament champ Modesto, we handed them their first loss. With another win that Saturday, scoring a total of 6 goals, the Rough Riders turned around their season, built chemistry, and truly became a team.
The rest of our season was incredible and we came so close to a bronze game in our tournament weekend. The improvement each player showed on the field and with each other at practice was great to see. I'll miss this group of boys and their families!!

Bill Meyer League TCYS U12 Girls
The Sonora Nightmares first matches were both wins, and the girls came away with optimism and ready for a great season. The season turned out great and we ended the regular season with a 6-4 record!
At tournament weekend, we ended Saturday with two losses and somewhat deflated with just one point and sitting in last, 6th place. On Sunday morning we came against the Manteca Warriors, a team we won twice (7-1 and 5-0), but at halftime we were down 0-1. In the second half, these amazing players came back and brought their team a 3-1 victory! With these points, the Nightmares were able to compete for 3rd place against our season’s archrival from Stockton. What a match, we were up 1-0 at the 15-minute mark and held the lead right up to the 59th minute. With a lucky kick, Stockton struck with a Hail-Mary goal from near centerline for the equalizer. It took 7 shoot-out kicks to end the match and to give the win to Stockton, such an exciting match!
Our U12 girls showed so much tenacity, so much will, and so much grit to play their best game ever. Each one brought it and was amazing to watch their best game in action! From the beginning, it was truly rewarding to see them develop into a cohesive team, them come together as a group of joyful loving friends, and them improve as individual soccer players. From the beginning of the season up to the last match against Stockton, they grew in every single match! Thank you girls for a very fun season, I will truly miss every single one of you and our time together! And thank you families for supporting our kids through it all!

Our U10 Boys Team, "The Blue Bombers’’ were a joy to coach this season. We’re very proud of how much they grew individually and how much they improved as a team overall.
We’re looking forward to seeing these guys out on the field again in the future!
